The 96TH Annual Dinner of the Association - 2008 PDF Print E-mail

The Annual Old Lyonian Dinner was held in the Shepherd Churchill Hall at Harrow School on Friday, 28 March 2008. This year, 157 Old Lyonians, teachers, former teachers and guests were present – an excellent attendance, albeit slightly lower than last year’s record figure of 180. The President of the Old Lyonian Association, Mike Christelow presided, and the diners were entertained and informed by speeches from Mr Ian Whybrow, former teacher, Mr Graham Williams (OL 1959-65) and the Headmaster, Mr Kevin Riley.

One Old Lyonian wrote: “The dinner was a real success, generally agreed by everyone on my table as the best we've attended. The usual high standard of food, complemented by an unusually high standard of speeches, led to a most excellent evening. Ian Whybrow was a particularly excellent choice of speaker - memories of A Level English came flooding back. He really was that 'off the wall' as a teacher too, one of so many 'gems' that I was fortunate enough to experience. Thanks again for the enormous amount of work you put in to make these things happen. It is appreciated.”
