The 97th Old Lyonian Annual Dinner, Friday 3rd April 2009 PDF Print E-mail

How quickly it comes around!

Once again the Old Lyonian Annual Dinner was held in the Shepherd Churchill Hall at Harrow School and, despite the somewhat gloomy fiscal climate, 135 Old Lyonians turned out in fine form to enjoy another marvellous evening together.

The President, Mr Paul Harrison 1964-1970 (Norwood) presided and diners were treated to some amusing reminiscences and old school anecdotes from the two guest speakers – former JLS teacher, Mr Steven Long 1978-1986 and Mr Paul Cheetham 1983-1990 (Butler). Mr Kevin Riley, out-going Headmaster, gave an informative speech about his time at the school and its future development.

Also this year we had a fine turnout of 1999 chaps celebrating the fact that it has been ten years since they were last at school. A champagne toast was provided and much enjoyed.

Several Old Lyonians have since written in to say how much they enjoyed the evening and to compliment the Chef at Harrow for providing a most excellent meal that was, in their opinion, on par with or better than the Savoy!

If you couldn’t attend the dinner this year, we look forward to seeing you at the 2010 dinner next spring!
