The team at the school: Mr Brian Holgate (School Liaison), Mrs Adielah Gardiner (Administrator), Mr Dale Vargas (Director) The OLA offers benefits for members both during and after their time at the School. The Association is the means by which all Old Lyonians can maintain their link with the School and with each other around the world. Members have access to an extensive network of Old Lyonians, with social and business contacts here and abroad.
On payment of the termly subscription, all members of the School are entitled to become members of the Association. Non-members may always join by making a single payment equivalent to the life subscription at the time.
While at the School, members will:
- Receive copies of the annual Old Lyonian magazine
- Receive the school’s colour newsletter, The Standard, three times a year
- Have access to the Association Office for help in finding work experience and for careers advice
On leaving, members will be presented with an Old Lyonian silk tie along with a booklet outlining the benefits of being a member of the Old Lyonian Association.
In addition, Old Lyonian members:
- Have lifetime membership without further payment
- Are invited to attend the annual dinner held in March
- Have Lifetime membership of the Old Lyonian Sports & Social Club, currently based at Pinner View
- May claim members' discount when hiring the club-house and/or sports field at Pinner View
- May use this website to communicate with each other, inform OLs of forthcoming events, display their sports photographs etc
Careers help and advice
We now have a substantial number of Old Lyonians employed in a wide variety of occupations who are very keen to help those currently studying at JLS in terms of advice, attending careers evenings and occasionally offering work shadowing. The School will use this network to develop work experience placements and gap year opportunities for leavers.
Clubs and societies
There are Old Lyonian clubs and societies for Association football, cricket, golf, archery, petanque, badminton, tennis and drama. Contact details for several of these are provided on this website. Where they are not provided, please contact the OLA office for further details.
