Pope & Young Shoot report (archery) |

|
Despite atrocious weather conditions and a waterlogged field, 13 Archers turned out for the recent Pope & Young shoot, reports Chair of Section Jane Prince. They included Carol Edwards, our local Archery Specialist who was also on hand to give professional advice to our members.
For those who don’t know what a ‘Pope & Young’ shoot is: you have six pegs and six targets ... you shoot one arrow at each target, then move on to the next peg and do the same again.
Special thanks must go to Len (Field Captain) and Ron (Scoring and Admin), our gallant volunteers who retrieved our arrows so we didn’t have to get wet … and to Ronnie and neighbour Eileen who set up the raffle and provided the food. Many thanks to them all! £80 profit was raised for the Club.
Mick Baily won among the Gentlemen, with 8 kills, 31 hits and a score of 63. Carol Edwards was the Ladies winner, with figures of 7, 27 and 55. And a special mention must go to our Junior, Christopher Ford, who scored an amazing 2,12 and 20 with a bow he only got the day before. Well done Chris - we are all proud of you!
