The Grafton Morrish golf competition is a historic event co-founded by The John Lyon School back in 1962. The event format is scratch foursomes played with three pairs from each of 148 HMC schools. The London qualifier played at Royal Wimbledon produced some remarkable golf with KCS Wimbledon recording 98 Stableford points. Eight teams quality for the knock-out stages in Norfolk. Unfortunately JLS failed to reach this stage along with 12 other schools, notably Harrow, Eton, Habs, St Paul’s and Mill Hill. We comprehensively beat our local adversaries UCS. This year’s team consisted of Chris Corry, Edward Buckwald, Simon Bird, Andrew Reed, Hugh Wikner and Paul Harris. There are a number of good young golfers leaving school in the near future and hopes are high that future generations may experience the excellent golf, surroundings and hospitability offered by the Public Schools Old Boys Golf Association finals at Brancaster and Hunstanton. Andrew Reed – May 2007. |
