Marc Abraham (OL 1983-90) - Marc or ‘Marc the Vet’ as he is more commonly known, is an award winning practicing Veterinary Surgeon, Broadcaster, Author and Animal Welfare Campaigner. Marc regularly appears on BBC Breakfast, ITV’s This Morning and Good Morning Britain. He was the Resident Vet on The Paul O’Grady Show, and has also appeared on BBC Daily Politics, BBC Panorama, Alan Titchmarsh Show, The Wright Stuff, It’s Me Or the Dog, Animal Rescue Live, and My Pet Shame on Sky One. Marc qualified from Edinburgh University in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in 1995 and his passion for animal welfare has seen him volunteer overseas for numerous animal rescue projects. Marc also campaigns extensively for animal welfare issues here in the UK, and in 2009 set up PupAid, a national puppy farming awareness campaign which was responsible for the biggest pet welfare government e-petition of all time.

In two sessions Marc presented to all students from Year 7 to U6th about his chosen profession, the paths this has taken him, countries he has visited and the adventures he has had and some of the more distressing experiences he has witnessed.

Marc then joined students for a lunch hosted by Jash Gandhi, Head Boy and Senior Prefects. The Head Boy & Old Lyonian lunches have become a tradition and each academic year the Head Boy hosts three such events.

Marc had also recently supported the annual Lyonian Association Black Tie Dinner.

Following his visit to the School, Marc commented:

"I thoroughly enjoyed returning to JLS after 27 years to speak with the pupils and share some of my life experiences. My guided tour brought back many happy memories of my time here and I very much look forward to further supporting the School in future."
