Ian Dennison, an Old Lyonian of the Class of 1995 and chair of the OL Football Association, visited John Lyon School on Leavers Day Assembly to formally say 'goodbye' and welcome them as new members of the Lyonian Association. Ian spoke to the pupils about his journey at the School, his career and his continuing passion for football and has made over 400 appearances.
At the farewell assembly, the pupils, soon to be 'former pupils' received a school hoodie, a leavers book, an OL tie, and pen, which we hope will inspire them to come back to the school in future as mentors for younger students and to deliver talks to our pupils. Alex Ferguson, an OL (Class of 2003), Head of Lower Sixth, and Teacher of French and Spanish, also gave insight into how being an OL inspired him to come back to teach at the School that presented many opportunities to him in his career.
Celebrations continued with a barbeque in The Red House garden with the head, staff and pupils. We are grateful to the catering team for making the event feel special. We look forward to all the pupils becoming a part of the Alumni and keeping in touch to have an impact and shape the futures of the younger pupils still at the school.
