On Friday 4th March we were delighted to welcome Liam Halligan (OL). Liam joined the School in 1980, leaving in 1987 to read Economics at Oxford, now a well-respected Economist, writer and broadcaster, best known for his weekly “Economics Agenda” column in The Sunday Telegraph. A former Head Boy, Liam has is shortly to take up a role as one of the School’s Governors.

Liam was invited to the School by Rhys Noye-Allen to the first Head Boy Lunch. Each year the departing Head Boy is invited to establish a legacy for the coming years and this year Rhys leaves this lunch where OLs are invited to meet with students in an informal atmosphere to encourage open discussion and encouragement as these young men consider their future choices. The next lunch guest will be Kevin Thomas (OL 1965-72) a former CEO of Babcock International, on Friday 20th May 2016.

During his visit Liam toured the School with a group of prefects, attended a fascinating presentation on Student Finances, a hot topic for our 2016 leavers looking ahead to their university education. Lunch was served at Le Beau House with the Head Boy, his Deputies and students from Years 10-12.

Liam encouraged a lively discussion on life in the School today and entertained with a few of his own stories.
