We have an exciting line up of events next term at John Lyon and would be delighted to see lots of OLs come to join us!

We have two lecture evenings early on in the term.  The first is ideal for OLs whose children are reaching those tricky teenage years  - How to Grow a Grown Up, on 14th January.  This talk will be given by GP Dr Dominque Thompson, daughter of Peter Thompson (OL), who has specialised in young people's mental health and will talk about the pressures teenagers are under and how parents can support them through this difficult time.

On 6th February, we have Talks-on-the-Hill: The Body.  This will be an evening of short lectures from a great selection of speakers who will give their perspectives on "The Body". Speakers include the artist Jane Freud, who will approach the subject as a sculptor, and Professor of Law at LSE, Jeremy Horder, who will look at our legal rights over our own bodies.  It promises to be a fascinating evening!

For those who enjoy the theatre, John Lyon is putting on William Golding's seminal Lord of the Flies and, in connection with the National Theatre, The Marxist in Heaven later in the year.

We have arranged a time for OLs to visit together Harrow School's current exhibition: From Reynolds to Matisse, Treasures of the Old Speech Room Gallery.  The exhibition is on display in the beautiful Old Speech Room Gallery, which was built in the 18th century as a place for Harrovians to practise public speaking.  It now houses the School's extensive art collection.  The current exhibition has brought together its finest art, including work by Reynolds, Constable, Cotman, Flaxman, Turner, Ruskin, de Wint, Lear and Matisse. Our visit will include an introduction from the curator of the gallery and, of course, tea and cake back at School!

For those OLs who left in 1978, 1979, 1988, 1989, 1998 and 1999 - don't forget to sign up to the reunion for your year!

Finally, the OLA Dinner is at the start of the summer term, 23rd April, booking opens in January!

For a full list of the events next term, please see our events page.  Please also keep an eye on John Lyon's what's on page for information about all musical events and for tickets to most School-run events.
