Dr Domique Thompson, daughter of OL Peter Thompson (1961), spoke to current parents about the difficulties faced by university students and the increased level of distress. Our children are growing up in a more competitive and perfectionist society which has shifted their mindset to be more risk averse and anxious with their lives. She gave some practical tips and pointers, all covered in her book, about how parents can help their children from an earlier age to navigate better through these complexities later in life.
